North American Equipment Upfitters, Inc. (the “Company”) was formed on January 7, 1999 and is situated in Hooksett, New Hampshire. We are a Woman Owned Business dedicated to providing quality aerial truck upfitting services to telephone, utility and cable companies as well as municipalities, private sector crane businesses and Fire Apparatus. Our goal is to increase the standards by which the industry currently operates with regard to product quality, cost leadership, safety and service.
In conjunction with our manufacturing partners, we intend to become the leading aerial equipment upfitter in the industry. Subsequently, we intend to extend our operations to service customers across the entire Northeast. Further, we plan to cultivate our relationship with each of our manufacturing partners to the extent that we become an integral component of their equipment sales process. Our quality control team monitors not only our internal production but also ensures that the manufacturer is delivering the highest quality components, all of which meet (or exceed) ANSI specifications. Every vehicle goes through two stages of quality control prior to delivery.
The company began production in 1999 with twelve (12) employees in a three bay building on three acres of land. By 2001 it was apparent the company required space to grow. We opened our first remote service center in Syracuse New York to provide sales service and installation locally to our customers. In the following year (2002) we purchased a twenty-eight acre site in Hooksett, N.H. and erected a 25,000 Sq. Ft. facility with twenty bays. By this time our fleet customer base had increased to include Verizon, Northeast Utilities, Green Mountain Power, NH Electric Co-op, Cox Cable, Time Warner Cable, Comcast, Lewis Tree, Fairpoint and TDS Telecom.
In 2003 in response to our customers searching for ways to be green compliant, North American Equipment became a distributor for Terresolve bio-degradable hydraulic oils and greases. The Terresolve products are biodegradable within 28 days. Many of our major fleets have converted to our biodegradable hydraulic oil.
In 2004 we began selling and servicing fire apparatus throughout the Northeast. The company became a distributor for American LaFrance and S&S Fire Apparatus. In 2005 the company purchased an additional twenty acres for future expansion.
The company continued its strong growth and in 2007 added an additional 10,000 sq. ft. of up-fitting space, increasing the building to 35,000 Sq. Ft. and twenty six bays. In late 2007 we became a distributor for Manitex Boom and Sign trucks adding a new dimension to our available product line.
Our third service center was added in 2007 in Scarborough Maine to provide local support to our customers.
By 2007 our road service department had grown to eleven (11) technicians. We provide both in-house and on-site service with 24 hr. emergency coverage throughout New England and New York. We operate eight (8) fully stocked road service vehicles and maintain an in-house repair staff at all locations. All of our technicians are required to be certified by our manufacturers. In the past eight years, North American Equipment has grown from twelve (12) to Seventy-four (74) employees.
In January of 2008, we began offering our major customers a full lease program that includes the complete vehicle upfitted to the customers specifications, annual inspections and testing, operator training and full service coverage for the whole term of the lease. This will allow our customers the opportunity to fix their maintenance costs associated with their fleet, for the term of the lease. A fourth service facility located in Connecticut is planned for the fourth quarter of 2008.
In addition to providing quality products and exceptional customer service, North American Equipment Upfitters, Inc is assuming a strong leadership role within the community by promoting the hiring of young men and women who have dropped out of high school. These individuals, many of whom would have difficulty obtaining employment, must agree to complete their GED and enroll in the New Hampshire Technical College. The company absorbs the cost of each individual’s continuing education. We also worked with the State of New Hampshire Job Council and developed a course study in Aerial Equipment Upfitting. The courses are a combination of lectures and hands-on training, offered at the local college, with the training portion of the course held on site at our facility.
Our initial product line is being obtained from a variety of manufacturing partners. High quality aerial lifts are provided by, or otherwise obtained from, Time Manufacturing and includes their full line of Versalift aerial bucket trucks. Our fiberglass Utility and Service bodies are provided by, or otherwise obtained from, BrandFX Bodies. Our stainless steel bodies are provided by Dakota Bodies. Our boom and sign trucks are provided by Manitex and our Fire Apparatus is obtained from American LaFrance and S & S Fire Apparatus.
